This application tracks all contacts made with any person and can help you with phone calls, letters, ticklers and help you maintain notes for a To Do List and your calendar.
If you want to search for a name, click the Clear button and type in the full name (this search is upper and lower case sensitive), then press Enter. If the name is in your database, it will appear along with all the information and contacts you have made. If the name is not found, you will be prompted for the Company name. Enter all other information and click the Store button. You can also use a Ctrl+S to store the record and a Ctrl+N to clear the record in preparation for entering a new record.
To Do List:
You will notice on the notepad, on the right that clicking on the area below "To Do List" launches the Windows Notepad along with your TODOLIST.TXT. You can make changes, close Notepad (saving the changes of course) and you are returned to the Contact Management form.
Appointments:
You can also click the area under "Appointments" to get your appointments (CALENDAR.EXE). Make any changes and close.
Gift:
The gift field is evaluated based on Birthdate being the current month, Hobby, and IQ.
Menus:
The menus in this application have been customized. They have many of the same functions as the buttons below with the addition of the Top, Bottom, Delete and Print commands. If you want the default menus to reappear choose Menu and Restore. You can also exit the application by choosing Menu|Exit.
Filters:
The ability to filter records is demonstrated by the Calls, Letters, Ticklers and All buttons. The "Type" field in the table object determines the type of contact that was made. A "1" is a phone call, a "2" is a letter, and a "3" is a tickler (reminder). You can filter the list to display just what you want by pressing one of the buttons. Or, if you have already activated a filter, you can deactivate the filter by clicking the All button.
Edit:
The Edit button is used to launch one of three programs, Microsoft Word for Windows, Windows Write or the Windows Notepad. The extension in the File Name field in the current record will determine what is loaded. A .TXT extension will load Notepad along with the file you specified if the file exists in the current directory. If the file is not found, you can cancel the attempt to find the file. Then edit and save the .TXT file under the name specified earlier. Write files require a .WRI extension in the File Name field while Word for Windows files require a .DOC extension. If none of the three are found, none will be launched. All three of these executable files must be in the DOS Path specified in your AUTOEXEC.BAT.
